Firefly signs $1.3B engine deal with AST SpaceMobile
Firefly will supply 36 engines and license its engine technology to AST SpaceMobile in a deal valued above $1.3 billion.
Firefly Aerospace announced on 6 November an agreement with AST SpaceMobile valued at more than $1.3 billion. Firefly will deliver 36 rocket engines, license the engine intellectual property and provide engineering support over three years for AST SpaceMobile's new rocket.
The delivery covers 27 Miranda engines and nine vacuum-variant Vira engines for AST SpaceMobile's first three rockets. The licence allows AST SpaceMobile to manufacture the engines itself.
Firefly CEO Jason Kim said AST SpaceMobile gets control of its own launch schedule, and Firefly gets added funds to expand rocket production.
