Atombeam raises $18.3M for satellite, defence and commercial networking software

Atombeam raised $18.3 million, taking total funding to $55 million, for its Neurpac data-compaction software.

Atombeam has raised $18.3 million to accelerate adoption of its software for satellite, defence and commercial links. The company announced the round on 21 October, increasing its total funding to $55 million.

Its Neurpac software compacts data packets to make them easier to transfer. Atombeam reports that Neurpac multiplies effective bandwidth by 4x, and says it has validated the technology with a major satellite operator's own traffic.

Earlier this year, the Space Development Agency expanded a contract for Atombeam to use Neurpac to improve data transmission over Link 16. In demonstrations for the agency, Atombeam reported that it reduced Link 16 data streams over military satellites by 86% to 89%.

Co-founder and CEO Charles Yeomans called the round an "inflection point" for the company. He said it will help accelerate Neurpac adoption and bring the company's Persistent Cognitive Machine technology through independent benchmarking and into customer pilots.
