ST Engineering iDirect will provide the ground network for MB Sat-1, a sovereign microGEO satellite built by Astranis, under a new deal with MBSat, part of Mohammed Al Barwani Group. The deal was reported on 26 October.

The company will provide satellite gateway and network operations across Oman and the Middle East using its Intuition software-defined ground segment. The solution includes dynamic resource allocation, integration with existing and future systems, and Ka-band gateway infrastructure.

MB Group ordered the microGEO satellite from Astranis early this year to expand satellite broadband capacity in key Middle East markets and to give Oman sovereign control. It is set to launch on the Astranis Block 3 mission in 2027.

ST Engineering iDirect CEO Sridhar Kuppanna said the company is providing MBSat with a flexible, software-defined ground platform that integrates with its existing operational environment.
